BHSAD AT OPEN INNOVATIONS FORUM AT SKOLKOVO TECHNOPARK
The forum gathered world’s leading experts, representatives of global corporations, entrepreneurs and startuppers, scientists, engineers and developers. The participants shared their experience and outlook for the development of technological trends, discussed the future business models, as well as prospects for international cooperation in the field of innovations.
Among the Forum’s speakers were Alibaba Group founder Jack Ma, theoretical physicist Michio Kaku, marketing director of the Brazilian Museum of Tomorrow Alexandre Fernandes, iconic robot maker Hiroshi Ishiguro, founder of Ishiguro Laboratories, executive vice president and director for digital technologies at National Geographic Markus East, as well as Sophia Hanson, an android that created a sensation in the media.
Anastasiya Butrym in her speech drew a portrait of a typical designer of the future and explained how one should teach such people in the present, based on the existing market fundamentals, demands of the economy, technical advances and innovative techniques. In the near future, the priority will be given to such aspects as cross-disciplinary skills, while the borders between various creative fields will become largely artificial and may eventually disappear altogether. Besides, it is the designers who will become the interlink that brings together specialists from seemingly different fields. Such principles are currently used in development of BHSAD’s educational programs, in establishment of study processes and interactions with key industry members.
Umberto Giraudo used his speech to call the audience to rethink product design as such. His lecture entitled “The Shell of the Modern World. Innovations in Industrial Design” was dedicated to the issue of emergence and viability of trends. Umberto, together with the audience, attempted to answer the question of what affects the design’s trendability and how social, economic, environmental and aesthetical factors turn good design into a great one.
