A GRADUATE ORGANIZES AUCTON FEATURING WORKS OF BHSAD STUDENTS
BA (Hons) Illustration alumni Anna Naumova together with her colleague Sofya Simakova devised and carried out a SAMPLE auction that introduces the wide audience to the works of the world’s leading art schools. Now anyone can buy a painting, a piece of graphic design or a sketch at SAMPLE online gallery or during a quarterly auction in Moscow. Besides, SAMPLE basically acts as a resource base for restaurants, hotels and public spaces where one can find works to decorate any interior.
The project was joined both by talented painters and engaged cultured people from the audience who take interest in art and share the creators’ perspective on life and culture. The first Sample auction took place at Tsvetnoy mall. The sale featured 37 lots, works by alumni of the British Higher School of Art and Design, Slate, UCL, Stroganov Academy, Moscow Institute of Architecture and other institutions.
The auction ended with 34 lots finding their buyers, and over 60 works that had not made it to the short list were sold within a month after the event took place. The next auction is scheduled for December 2016, and there are all signs that the event will become a regular one.
