This February students of BA (Hons) Fashion Design took part in the creative upcycling project in collaboration with H&M. For the Change Maker project young designers created unique pieces from H&M’s previous collections.
Back in 2013 H&M started collecting old and unwanted clothes in the stores and recycle them. This collaboration with BHSAD is another reminder that clothes can be upcycled and throwing them away shouldn’t be the first option. H&M representatives congratulated the young designers on making real masterpieces from old clothes.
Works by Alisa Lapycheva, Anastasia Pyatkova and tatiana Kiryanova were showcased at the store opening in Galeria Shopping Centre in Saint Petersburg on 23 and 24 May. They were shown in Conscious area, dedicated to the brand’s eco collection. Customers had an opportunity to discuss those pieces with the students and learn what was the inspiration behind them. There was also a customization station at the Conscious area where visitors could transform their old clothes and give them a new life.
We thank H&M for collaboration and an active participation in sustainable development and Change Maker project.
