Derek Breen talked to students in Scratch language

Derek Breen, head of educational design group at MIT Media Lab, held a workshop at BHSAD on October 31st. The event was part of the Open Innovations Forum. Mr Breen spoke to the participants about an unconventional virtual programming language called Scratch that allows even a first grader to create his own short animation or video game.

Yekaterina Lubimova and Alisa Minkina, graduates of BA (Hons) Product Design programme, took second and third places in a prestigious contest held during Moscow furniture and interior exhibition I Saloni. The skills the two designers acquired while studying at the British Higher School of Art and Design helped them find unconventional solutions and win the hearts of the jury.

The Office of the Mayor of Moscow and the Department of Information Technologies of Moscow offered the students of the British Higher School of Design the opportunity to participate in a project to develop a new portal: future.mos.ru, which, in the future, will unite urban services, making them simpler and more accessible to residents.

BHSAD STUDENTS OPTIMISE RUSSIA'S FIRST ROBOTIC PARKING

Sergei Smirnov, the co-owner of the startup Ronavi, decided to see if BHSAD students were able to identify ways to improve automated parking systems. Graduates of the Design Management programme conducted research, plus talked to numerous car owners and observed their habits, all in order to understand at what stages people often have difficulty interacting with electronic devices and then consider these findings in regards to the creation of service proposals.
