On June 2 -16, the annual Britanka Degree Show takes place at BHSAD. Graduates of the British BA programmes present their projects in the fields of Fashion, Fine Art, Illustration, Graphic Design, Photography, Interior Architecture & Design, and Product & Industrial Design. The opening ceremony this year featured Andrei Bartenev, Andrei Miziano, Anna Khilkevich, Olga Mikhailovskaya (Vogue.ru), Nastya Sotnikova (Design-mate), Arina Yaganova (Cosmo), and Varvara Barkalova (The Blueprint).
This year, this show will be a special one – in 2018, Britanka will celebrate its 15th anniversary. In 2003, the School launched its first two British BA programmes, Illustration and Graphic Design, with only 32 students and 3 administrative employees. Today, BHSAD’s studios, workshops and lecture halls barely fit in the 11,000 square meters of space located in five buildings at Artplay Design Center. Each year, over a hundred students receive international higher degrees from the University of Hertfordshire (the UK).
Graduates of past years include fashion designers Darya Selyanova (ZDDZ), Alisa Kuzembaeva (ALISA KUZEMBAEVA) and Maria Kazakova (Jahnkoy), product designers Alisa Minkina (MONTLY), Marina Turlay (Beresta) and Yevgeny Arinin (Lexus Design Award Russia Тор Choice 2016), graphic designers Ivan Khmelevsky (The Bakery), Aleksandr Gladkikh (Charmer), and many others.
Britanka Degree Show, the final exhibition of students' works, is designed to reveal the talents and present those who will shape the future face of design and art industries in Russia and abroad.
The exhibition will feature meetings with students and industry representatives, tours and a special quest for the guests. Detailed schedule of events will be published at a later date. Britanka Degree Show identity is based on a work by BA (Hons) Illustration student Diana Kustova (DIKUSTO) "Dance petit monstre dance!". This work will also be on display at the exhibition.
Chief media partner of the exhibition is Design Mate ®, media about design in all of its forms and in all spheres of human life, about design as a means to understand, accept or change the environment and its perception.
We also express gratitude to SAMSUNG for supporting BA (Hons) Fine Art students.
The school also thanks ObedBufet restaurants, who rewarded the author of the work they liked the most with a certificate to visit one of their restaurants. The award went to illustrator Nelly Borisova, the author of an illustrated book for children Garbage All over the World, designed to inspire environmental thinking among the kids.
