A large Britanka ArtsCool project entitled "The Enchanted Forest" is nearing completion. Students in the programme had a chance to learn about modern art, theatrical design and stagecraft by creating a model of a fantasy world inhabited by fairy-tale characters and whimsical trees. The exhibits were open to the public on February 21st, when the display of the final works was held.
"Enchanted Forest" is the fourth project in the framework of the 2-year programme for school children that is based on British educational principles. The programme aims to expand the students' creative horizons and to develop their ability to observe, analyse, fantasise and experiment. The learning process occurs in a creative and stimulating environment.
The "Enchanted Forest" project pursues several objectives: it introduces the techniques and methods of creating spatial objects, theatrical models and making full-scale sketches to the students plus develops spatial composition skills, associative and creative thinking; explores expressive means such as light and sound; gives insight into productive collaboration and teamwork.
The project was organised by Lada Shapovalova, supervisor of Britanka ArtsCool programme, Polina Bakhtina, supervisor of the Theatrical Design programme, and Roman Sakin, Illustration programme tutor.
