The joint project of Britanka and the Contemporary Dance Centre TSEKH was dedicated to visualizing the dance. The project was devised and headed by Pre-Foundation Art & Design lead tutor Yulia Stepanova. The collaboration took place in spring 2018 and had three stages.
On March 15th, students of BHSAD Pre-Foundation Art & Design Part-time course attended Mariam Nagaichuk’s dance class. They focused on grasping and communicating the dynamics of a body in their live sketches. These sketches became the basis of collages that the future artists and designers created themselves after the class.
On April 27th, the same class took place at the BHSAD. Under the guidance of Tatyana Fateeva, teacher of dance somatics at TSEKH, students of Pre-Foundation Art and Design Full-time course were performing the moves themselves, reproducing their inner and outer feelings, and then captured the moves in quick sketches. Further on, they used these impressions and sketches to create larger works.
Works created after these classes were exhibited at TSEKH’s open spaces on May 14-27. The exhibition features works done by Britanka students of various age and specialization (photography, visual art, and design).
