Archspeech online media together with MosBuild international exhibition and with participation of Pilkington invite young talented bureaus to take part in a special project where experts from Moscow Advanced Communications School (MACS) and MARCH Architecture School will help architects work with their own brand, give public speeches and market themselves in the social media in a series of workshops. After one month, we will compare the “before” and “after”.
There are already a lot of publications about how to make a successful portfolio and get a proper job - this is the path most graduates of architectural universities choose. But when young architects decide to open their own bureau, the experience and portfolio are put on the back burner, and new tasks arise such as where to get orders, how to formulate one’s philosophy, and how to professionally promote it to the masses. Without solving these tasks, the bureau as a business is doomed.
You can’t learn it in universities. One often sees that after graduation, even the most talented architects are completely unable to talk about themselves. But this is a crucial element for small firms, because it is easy to trace a direct link between brand recognition and the number of orders. Therefore, with the support of the international exhibition MosBuild, we launch the special project “Design yourself!”, where using the example of three young bureaus we will talk about a firm’s own brand, why you need it and why you should not disregard self-promotion.
You don’t need to have an established company to participate in the project. In order to promote your personal brand on the pages of Archspeech under the guidance of programme leaders from the MACS School and MARCH Architecture School, you need to successfully complete three stages of the project:
This stage does not require your physical presence, so teams of young architects from all over Russia can participate. You need to fill in a form, and in the end of January, the jury will chose five half-finalists. Two more will be added following a vote by the audience.
2. PLAYOFF TASK
On the second stage, seven half-finalists will receive a task that they will have to complete in a very short time. This task will also be performed remotely, and three best teams will make it to the final. Who did the best job will be decided by the jury and a vote in social networks.
3. REALITY WORKSHOP
The main stage on which the finalists, together with the experts from MACS and MARCH Architecture School will visit successful bureaus, formulate the philosophy of their own brand, pump up the social networks and public speaking skill, create their own website, meet Moscow’s Chief Architect Sergei Kuznetsov and make a video business card.
All the most interesting things will be covered by archspeech:, and the outcomes of the project will be presented on April 5 at MosBuild, international exhibition of construction and finishing materials.
