An independent curator, editor and writer based in Paris whose research interests include curatorial practices, empathy, transnational feminism, slow institutions, degradation and performative practices in the former Eastern Europe. She is the curator of the 9th Contour Biennale (Mechelen, Belgium, 2019) and, with Giovanna Zapperi, the first comprehensive video exhibition of the French actress and feminist activist Delphine Seyrig (1932-1990), which will take place at the Museum of Modern Art in Lille and the Museo Reina Sofia in Madrid (both 2019). Together with Elisabeth Lebovici and Patricia Falgier, she co-founded the Something You Should Know seminar series at the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences (EHESS), and she is a member of the Traveling Féministe research group at the Centre audiovisuelle Simone de Beauvoir, both in Paris.
Her previous exhibitions include Let's Talk Weather. Art and Ecology in Times of Crisis (curated by Nora Razian), Sursock Museum (Beirut, Lebanon, 2016); Tales of Empathy, Jeu de Paume (Paris, France, 2014) and Resilience, Triennial of Contemporary Art, Museum of Contemporary Art (Ljubljana, Slovenia, 2013) among others. Petreschin-Bashelez was editor-in-chief of L'Internationale Online (2014-2017) and Manifesta Journal (2012-2014); co-director of Les Laboratoires d'Aubervilliers (2010-2012) and co-founder of Cluster, a European network of small art institutions. She has written texts for numerous publications and magazines such as e-flux magazine, Bidoun, Sarai Reader, Springerin, and Parkett Magazine.
