Students and alumni of the British Higher School of Art and Design (MOST association) will explore three constructs: spirituality, identity and control, and each of them will be interpreted simultaneously by two artists.
Young artists will reveal the contrasting aspects of each concept. The variability within each construct is demonstrated not only conceptually, but also at the level of the meduim.
Thus, Alina Ponomareva in her video installation recreates the scenes depicted in the Sistine Chapel, placing them in domestic settings. Non-figurative paintings of Cheong Ye Chang start a dispute with her by deconstructing the color-related cultural code. Maxim Ivanov and Victoria Romanovich use photography and performance to document the patterns of celebrity identity in the areas that are traditionally opposed to each other: academic and glamorous spheres. Sofia Latysheva controls the space and movement of people in it with the help of metal structures, while automatic drawings by Oleg Kuznetsov start a dialogue with it.
Curators: Arina Efanova, Maria Mednikova, Alisa Menshikova, Maria Mozgovaya, Mika Plutitskaya, Daria Setevinets.
