LECTURE AS PART OF MIDSUMMER NIGHTS’ SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL

BA (Hons) Ilustration tutors Christopher Rainbow and Evgenia Barinova gave a lecture and a workshop as part of the Midsummer Nights’ Shakespeare festival, dedicated to the works of William Shakespeare and organized by the British Council.

This year the whole world remembers the life and works of the great playwright on the 400th anniversary of his death. Therefore one project for students of 2nd and 3rd years of the BA (Hons) Illustration programme was based on Shakespeare’s famous plays – Midsummer Night’s Dream and The Tempest.

Students who participated in the project created images of the plays’ characters, design for theatrical costumes and decorations for plays. At the open lecture, the programme supervisor Christopher Rainbow spoke on drawings from the published books by Shakespeare, and the programme tutor Evgenia Barinova organized an exciting workshop on the latest interpretation of the main characters of The Tempest.
