Graduating in 1999 from Central St Martins School of Art & Design with a BA (Hons) Fashion Womenswear, Clare has spent the last 17 years working in the fashion industry as both a Designer and Educator. Clare started her career in the UK where she worked for a number of international fashion labels, while also establishing and leading academic courses. She has also designed bespoke professional training and consultancy programmes for a range of industry clients for the Fashion Business Resource Studio at the London College of Fashion.
In 2008 Clare moved to Moscow to establish, author and direct the first international BA (Hons) Fashion Degree Programme in Russia at the British Higher School of Art & Design, part of Moscow Film School and Moscow School of Architecture.
Under Clare’s creative direction and leadership the course has inspired a new generation of fashion designers that are challenging and re -defining the perception of the Russian Fashion industry internationally.
Clare has introduced much needed pedagogical change and innovation to the academic process within the Russian context as well as establishing a range of industry collaborations, with companies such as Paul Smith, Topshop, Adidas Originals and All Saints. She has also established an annual Graduate Catwalk Show as part of Mercedez Benz Fashion Week, Russia.
Over the last 8 years the course has spawned some of the most prominent and original fashion talent in Russia and Clare continues to build links both internally and internationally with leading academic institutions such as the Royal College of Art and the University of the Arts London. Graduates gain places on high profile international MA fashion programmes as well as working for international labels and creating small business startups.
Inspired by her life and research into Moscow and Russian culture, Clare has also been engaged in her own professional practice launching her debut collection as part of the British Council’s British Designers Day at Russian Fashion Week.
