For the final major project the designer decided to investigate the nuances of communication as a crucial part of graphic design. The book and the posters show non-verbal elements of spoken language. The main intention was to visualize sound nuances of spoken words that are expressed in personal manner of speaking. The diagrams and decoding system were created for paralanguage components, like intonation, volume, syllable length and others that highlight phonetic distinctions and alternate implications of the ‘Hello’ word. Simple daily word ‘Hello’ might be friendly or judgmental, seductive or shy, haughty or happy, etc. The diagrams supported by the black and white photographs that display different emotional nuances of daily greeting.
The additional booklet appeared to show all the development, research, investigation and overall design process behind the final major project. Accurate analysis and reflection supported each development stage, revealing personal internal dialogue and helping to successfully finish the project.
