I graduated from BA (Hons) Product and Industrial Design programme and now I work in the same industry — I make furniture. After graduation I started my own company
MONTLY. I now need to learn more about business processes to make it work.
Everything started with my final project. We created our own brief and when I was spending too much time experimenting with materials everyone else already had half of their projects done. And I had to start from scratch.
The idea came to me when I was rolling paper — this is how I came up with the technology of twisted veneer. Of course it was a lot of work and experimenting with material and form, but the most important thing was my final project was finished on time. Interestingly enough our tutors were not impressed by the fact that I was making furniture, but it didn’t stop me. Then I started going to exhibitions and little by little conquering the world with my project.
Now my company is 2 years old and we still work on our technology of twisted veneer.
At the same time I started teaching at BHSAD and it turned out to be a very interesting and inspiring experience.
Knowledge and skills BHSAD gave me are very important to me, the attention tutors give you here are nowhere to be found. This allows you to realise your potential and direction in which you want to grow. It gave me the understanding that I am a team player and delegating is an important skill that allows me to grow my business.
Now I do what I always wanted. I wanted to have my own business and do a lot of different things. And that is what BHSAD gave me. I also continue to grow as a teacher.
